Date: 2018-04-18 03:49 am (UTC)As I am writing to you it should be obvious that I have arrived safely in Alexandria. I do not think I will travel by ship again no matter how much faster it is, I dislike how they throw off my balance even more than it already is.
I will be taking the roads between here and Cairo. There are ruins and the like along the way that I have some interest in seeing as opposed to simply reading about. To think after so long of reading of this land and charting it with ink I am here in person.
I shall have to begin chronicling things properly.
Safety and Peace.
Letter to Maria - Spring
Date: 2018-04-18 04:07 am (UTC)I find myself needing your advice instead of your husbands, though you are free to laugh with him at my newfound predicament.
I have been invited to court.
Apparently my mapwork is well regarded and they wish to speak with me. I have no idea of the rules of visiting a noble court or how to dress for such a thing. Nasira insists that I need better clothing but I fail to see what is wrong with what I own.
Nasira is the woman who manages Cairo's brothers and sisters. I think you would either like her greatly or the two of you would fight endlessly. I admit that it was very entertaining to deal with her attempt to prove her worth to me when I already regarded her as an equal if not a superior in some things. She can wield two weapons after all.
I do not think she has decided how to treat me yet, I have not let on that I am still able to climb and fight as well as anyone.
Regardless, your advice on how to navigate the intricacies of a court would be incredibly well appreciated.
Safety and Peace.
Letter to Altair - Autumn
Date: 2018-04-18 04:39 am (UTC)There is unrest in the court, after the problems in Damascus that is to be expected however. I do not understand how brothers can wage war on one another but at least their uncle is a wise man who kept things from getting too out of hand.
To further complicate matters here, Nasira is with child and I am the father.
I do not know how to feel about this.
Malik
